Questions About
Living The Dream—A Guidebook For Job Seekers And Career
Explorers
What is different about this book?
I
wrote Living The Dream—A Guidebook For Job Seekers And Career Explorers
to address a serious gap in the market. While there were many books on career
and job search written form a very practical/left brained perspective and while
there was a growing number of books on
career from a spiritual/right brained perspective, there was virtually nothing
in the market that addressed the subject from a holistic perspective. That gap
has been filled with Living The Dream.
Why does the market need this book?
Why
does the market need a holistic book on career exploration/job search, one that
offers practical guidance coupled with universal principles that help the
seeker retain his/her humanity? The most compelling answer to that question is
that the men and women who buy books on career are seeking approaches that
address them as whole people with mind, body, spirit and emotions. This is the
book my clients (career/executive/life
coaching clients) want and need. It is the book I wanted and needed, years ago, when I was re-examining my own
career.
What can be found in the book?
As
you can see from the table of contents, Living The Dream has chapters
addressing the grounded, practical requirements of job search/career
exploration: the résumé/cover letter, networking, interviewing, and job offer.
It also has chapters address the grounded, spiritual requirements of job
search/career exploration: clearing and self acceptance work; trusting the
universe; love, surrender and the power of nature; and intent coupled with
flexibility. None of the chapters
present a unilateral approach, but one that acknowledges that we need both our
left and right brains; we need spirit
and emotions and we need the full
power of brain and body.
Further,
some chapters address what is commonly ignored in career exploration/job search
books: (1) what to do when you are completely confused about what to do; (2)
how to approach that part of the roller coaster ride of the journey when one
bottoms out; and (3) what to do once you have found the perfect job.
The
book uses a variety of means to address the subject matter: standard text;
exercises; guided imageries; and vignettes. With multiple vehicles to convey
the message, the reader has a better opportunity to incorporate them deeply.
Additionally,
a CD accompanies the book. This CD is comprised of guided imageries from the
body of the book, allowing the reader to first read the imagery, then put aside
the book and relax into it through an enjoyable experiential listening/imaging
experience. The CD was expertly produced by Grammy/Emmy award winner, Douglas
Spotted Eagle and contains his original music beneath the voiceover. The
imageries are beautifully spoken by
What is the pricing?
The
book is priced at $26.95, making it both an affordable resource and a bargain
for such a packed information/CD combination.
